Curated by award-winning travel advisor Gabrielle Estel, this literary journey through Northern England and Wales blends beloved books, historic libraries, grand estates, and breathtaking landscapes into an immersive experience for readers and travelers alike.
Beginning in Manchester, we will embark on private tours of iconic literary sites including the historic Chetham’s Library, followed by a traditional afternoon tea. Our itinerary then ventures into North Wales, exploring the Alice in Wonderland connections of Llandudno, the medieval grandeur of Conwy Castle, and the Arthurian legends woven through the dramatic landscapes of Snowdonia (Eryri). Crossing into the Peak District, follow in the footsteps of Jane Austen with visits to Treak Cliff Cavern and the magnificent Chatsworth House (best known as Pemberley from the Pride and Prejudice movie!). We will also visit theelegant spa town of Buxton, celebrated by writers such as Lord Byron. The journey concludes with afternoon tea at Elizabeth Gaskell’s House and a farewell dinner in Manchester.
Throughout the trip, you’ll enjoy expert guides, private transportation, boutique accommodations, literary history, traditional British hospitality, and ample free time to wander bookshops, cafés, gardens, castles, and countryside at their own pace.
This is an intimate dinner party. The group will be capped at 16 guests plus your host, Gabrielle. The perfect size for a dinner where you really get to know someone but still feel there's a variety of personalities to bounce around ideas with. To keep our adventures even more personal, there will be 2 local guides and 2 vehicles for a ratio of 2 guides: 8 travelers plus your host covering every need.

She previously worked as a book editor in UNESCO City of Literature Iowa City and a debate instruction aboard at international schools in Taiwan and Egypt.
